Xylokastro Guide
Our favorite local recommendations
Our favorite recommendations from over the years. Many of these spots double as both cafes and bars.
Some more Greek advice: Greek time is very different than American time. Many shops, restaurants, and cafes close from 3:00 pm–5:00 pm for mesimeri — the traditional afternoon break and time to slow down, rest, and escape the heat. You'll find all the locals sleeping on the beach 😅
Dinner is also a late affair in Greece. It's very traditional to go out for dinner after sunset, usually around 9:00 pm or later. So don't be surprised if restaurants feel quiet early in the evening — the night is just getting started.
